Music lover and record collector, I was first introduced to blue beat & ska by a skinhead older than me back in the 80's...Not long after that I visited the legendary Paris reggae record shop located on the boulvevard Saint-Germain called Blue-Moon ( long time gone...) and headed back home with a bunch of original studio one singles... Then I started ( and never stopped since) to dig for some others obscure reggae records while all my mates where into their Oi! and punk phase !! LOL . I'm "aussi" really into Blues, R&B, Jazz & Blue Note, specialy West Coast Jazz like Pacific Jazz label... When I'm not listening or looking for records, I just spend my time enjoying wine, food , my english bull terrier, family and buddies .

It was a pleasure to spin some records last year at Deep Cliffs Weekender, and I was very happy peoples loved my Reggae and Ska selection, the whole weekend was a blast !!! no doubt this year will be a great moment "encore" !!

Here is 10 records I will have with me for the weekender:

    Symphonical Records

Hailing from the Scunthorpe riveira, I've found myself in London for the past several years collecting colourful 70s & 80s sounds and trying my hand at putting on a few club nights too. Currently piecing a few things together for my label Symphonical Records which, still in it's infancy, releases unissued material from back in the day, whilst doing the odd DJ gig and co-promoting 'Reel To Reel', a disco club in Barcelona.

Grateful to be back on the sunny coast of Portugal, a few tunes I'll bring are:

Jax Transit Authority - Life Is A Miracle (own label)

    Upheaval - Paradise Lost (Love)

Heem The Music Monsters - Wake Up People (Blood Leaf)

Latrell - My Little Darlin' (Family Groove)

Ledgends - A Fool For You (Red Balloon)

L.A. - The Doctor (Orange Mound)

The Intentions - Dig It (Tiki)

    Allison - Who's #1, Who's #2 (Ansap)

Soulfull Strutters - Let Your Feelings Go (Strut)

Love, Warmth & Affection - Talking 'Bout Love (Weekend)

Very happy to return to attend this second edition of the Deep Cliffs Soul Weekender and to be able to select some 45's for the occasion. Many of you already know me, others not so much. I'm from Barcelona, I started collecting records when I met the mod scene in the late 90's. In recent years I have specialized in collecting 45's of rare soul, which is basically what I'm going to play this Deep Cliffs Soul Weekender. I really want to surround myself with good friends, listen to good music, and also to taste good local food, as it was last year. Counting the days to fly to the Algarve and its fantastic beaches. See you there!!

Hendrik Irmscher (Soul'd Up - Berlin)

As many of my soul mates, I set in my record journey by collecting 70s Powerpop/Mod/Punk and 60s Garage. Many moons ago I began dj-ing and organizing some wild parties in Berlin, since then I have been specializing in collecting 60s & 70s Soul sounds. From my today's view - I love any kind of soulful sounds, to begin with 60s R&B/Soul up to soulful House as well as great current releases. Five years ago we started promoting bigger events under the flag of "Soul’d Up - Berlin", so twice a year we celebrate an Alldayer & Allnighter with an international dj line-up, upcoming one is on 1st & 2nd of November incl. Friday Warm up. …

5 of my current faves that most probably get a spin at the daytime

Charles McCormick - I Want You For My Self [Mon-Tab]

    Lynn White ‎– I Don't Know Why [S.O.H.]

New Way - Holding On [prestige]

The Esquires ‎– Girls In The City [Lamarr]

Johnnie Taylor ‎– Ain't That Lovin You [Stax]

    From Hamburg, Germany

I started collecting Soul 45s in the mid 80’s, and started DJing with these things maybe ten years later. Now I’m a regular on one of the big weekenders in germany, The Soul Shakers Weekender“ in Bamberg. I do DJ occasionally outside germany, I was a guest DJ in Italy, Sweden, USA, Spain, UK, and Portugal. I love my Northern sides as much as the 70’s and early 80’s records and I like it funky too. I still collect soul music only in it’s original format and I surely won’t Stop doing it, as there’s nothing, that thrills me more than a quality soul 45, that I have never heard before.

Some records that might get a spin at the Weekender

Sammie Relford: Breaking Ice On Love

    Bill Brown: Bip Bam

    I-20 Connection: Dreamin

    Crystal’s Image: A Friend

Joni Wilson: (Let Hurt Put You In The) Loser’s Seat

    Dynasty Of Sound: Small Bag

Willie Tee: I Peeped You Whole Card

Southern Comfort: It’s in My Letter

Ernie Amos: If I Could Dance

    Sandi & Matues: The World

From Seattle Usa / Emerald City Soul Weekender

    Hello,
I’m happy to be returning to the Deep Cliffs Weekender. It’s going to be a happy reunion of friends in the best setting imaginable. I was born in Northern California, now residing in Seattle Washington. I’m probably most associated with Seattle’s Emerald City Soul Club, however I try to keep busy organizing diverse music events ranging from American garage punk to rocksteady and sweet soul. My goal is never to allow a boring weekend in Seattle ;-)

Ten records that I’ve been playing recently at Emerald City Soul Club:

    1. Linda Collins – All the Way Down the Line – Priority Entertainment
    2. Don Julian and the Larks - The Pop Lock – Jerk Records
    3. The Revolution of St. Vincent – The Little You Say – Wirl
    4. Joe Bataan – Mestizo – Salsoul Records (45 RPM with Rap-O-Clap-O)
    5. Neo Experience – Human – Sahara
